Faith begins in an experiment and ends in an experience.

Everybody should do in their lifetime, sometime, two things. One is to consider death. To observe skulls and skeletons and to wonder what it will be like to go to sleep and never wake up— never. That is a most gloomy thing for contemplation. It’s like manure. Just as manure fertilizes the plants and so on, so the contemplation of death and the acceptance of death is very highly generative of creating life. You’ll get wonderful things out of that.

You cannot attain it by thinking, you cannot grasp it by not thinking.

At the bottom of great doubt lies great awakening. If you doubt fully, you will awaken fully.

… meditation in the midst of activity is a thousand times superior to meditation in stillness.

That which is measurable can never find the immeasurable, which is truth.

Work diligently. Diligently. Work patiently and persistently. Patiently and persistently. And you’re bound to be successful. Bound to be successful.

One realizes that there is no serenity whatsoever in the things that thought has put together of one has gone into it sufficiently intelligently, rationally and sanely to find out; one sees that there is really no structure, either in the future, or in the past, or in the present, philosophical, religious, or ideological, which can give any kind of security whatsoever.
